Job Description

Are you passionate about transforming the lives of vulnerable children in care, helping them thrive and unlock their potential?

We operate Children’s Homes across East Sussex, providing a supportive environment where children live and benefit from the care of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to their welfare. As a Residential Youth Support Worker, you’ll work directly with the children and their families, fostering their development and wellbeing. You’ll also have the chance to lead specialized initiatives—like promoting healthy eating—to enhance our services. This is a rewarding opportunity to create a lasting impact on some of the most vulnerable young people in our community.

We’re seeking candidates with experience working with children, a keen interest in child development, and a commitment to treating residents with dignity and respect. Your application and interview should clearly reflect these qualities.

Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for these roles. Applicants must have the full, indefinite right to work in the UK for us to proceed with your application.

Our homes include Children’s Disability Homes, Open Homes, and a Secure Residential Home, located in Eastbourne, Bexhill, Seaford, and St Leonards. We offer both full-time and part-time positions—please specify your preferred location and hours in your application. Learn more about our homes and career opportunities here: Careers in Residential Youth Support Work | East Sussex County Council.

To apply, click the ‘Apply Now’ button above and complete the application, highlighting how you meet the person specification criteria using relevant work, life, educational, or personal experiences.

Interviews will be conducted in person during the week beginning Monday, 31 March.

We know our success depends on our exceptional staff. That’s why we offer a thorough induction to equip you with essential skills and knowledge, plus a fully funded Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare apprenticeship, including off-the-job training time. For those eager to build a career with children, we provide further development opportunities, including additional apprenticeships to fuel your ambitions.

Our comprehensive benefits package supports you throughout your journey with us—details are available on our benefits page. For an informal chat about the role, contact Verity Lloyd at Verity.lloyd@eastsussex.gov.uk to schedule a call.
