JOB SUMMARY

 

  • Grade UE06: £32,982 to £38,205 per year.
  • Edinburgh College of Art/CAHSS
  • Full-time: 35 hours each week.
  • Fixed term: 12 months.

Edinburgh College of Art is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled creative technologist who appreciates working with digital manufacturing. If you have extensive experience with 3D printing and laser cutting, as well as knowledge of 2D and 3D modelling and design, we want to hear from you! If you have a strong interest in CNC milling or laser welding, that’s even better! Join us in our workshops as we support a variety of cutting-edge technology.

If you have technical abilities, are committed to assisting staff and students in getting the most out of their projects, and are eager to collaborate with students and professors from many fields, please apply.

You can anticipate to work in a vibrant artistic environment on a variety of creative initiatives, assisting students and faculty with teaching, research, and imaginative project work across a wide range of disciplines. Working closely with a larger ITTS Digital Making Teams, you will be pushing the boundaries of technology and making dreams a reality.

This is a fixed-term position beginning in October 2024 and lasting twelve months. Based on location on ECA’s Lauriston Campus.

The Opportunity:

You will be part of a team of devoted and skilled technical workers who support transdisciplinary teaching and research. You will have a solid background in and practical grasp of new and transformational digital making technologies, as well as a strong desire to assist others in using them to challenge, create, and effect change.

Your abilities and traits for success:

  • Demonstrate extensive technical knowledge and experience with applicable procedures and equipment.
  • An curious attitude and a drive to learn new skills and technology in order to meet difficulties as they emerge.
  • Proven ability to present technical ideas and concepts to an audience with a variety of skill and experience levels.
  • Strong understanding of the health and safety implications of busy technical workshops with students as the key users.
  • Capability to create high-quality documentation and learning materials for students and staff through a number of delivery ways
