Edwards abatement solutions is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer in Clevedon.

Mission –

This new post, which reports to the Senior Engineering Manager, will be directly responsible for directing, enabling, and motivating a growing team of Systems Engineers for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Responsibility will cover idea to customer commissioning and field trials, and the application of best-practice engineering will assure on-time delivery, within the strategic operating budget, and to specification.

Main responsibilities

Work in the heart of our engineering and product development teams, using Systems Engineering tools and approaches to extract meaning from ambiguity.

Transform our product vision into clear and simple requirements utilising Systems Engineering techniques such as Use Cases, Context Diagrams, Architectures, and others.

Use Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to create Functional, Logical, and Behavioural architectures to better understand the System’s operations and flows.

Collaborate with and successfully influence all of our engineering teams to explain work packages, organise trade-off studies, and resolve technical challenges.

Lead and educate a growing core team of Systems Engineers at various levels of experience to help them progress towards becoming Lead SEs themselves.

Contribute to the development and spirit of the Systems Engineering process, as well as its integration into the larger firm, by training other Systems Engineering professionals on how to overcome technical difficulties.

Ability to work with multiple cross-functional teams.

Follow a Leader-Leader mentality while operating as an emancipated autonomous team.

Experience and Skills

Requirements for Systems Engineering include a bachelor’s degree (required), a master’s degree (preferred), or an equivalent qualification.

At least 5 years of expertise applying best-practice Systems Engineering in a relevant industry is required.

Desirable experience in a regulated, compliance-driven industry, such as semiconductor production equipment, with a focus on product safety and adherence to applicable standards.

Demonstrates strong influencing and negotiation skills across numerous organisational levels.

Capable of taking accountability and leading others, even without direct reports (important).

Requirements include high integrity and accountability, a results-driven mindset, and the ability to set standards and hold others accountable for delivering results.

Experience in coaching others is required.

Demonstrates and teaches best-practice Systems Engineering, transferring information from awareness to actual application.
