Social Care Worker (Entry/Main) – Support at Home Central, Annsbrae

Community Care Resources, Shetland Islands Council

Want to Make a Real Difference?

Are you kind, compassionate, and a great listener? Do you find joy in helping others and naturally treat people with dignity and respect? If so, we’d love for you to join our team as a Social Care Worker! No qualifications? No worries! For entry-level roles, your heart and attitude matter most—we’re seeking thoughtful, caring people ready to inspire.

Who We Are

Community Care Resources delivers person-centered support to adults with care needs across Shetland. Through Day Care, Care at Home, and Residential Services, we help people live their best lives with independence and dignity.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide hands-on support to individuals in various settings, from personal care (like bathing or dressing) to daily skills and social activities.
  • Help people with diverse abilities and complex needs reach their goals and stay safe.
  • Work as part of a tight-knit team to deliver top-quality care tailored to each person’s wishes.
  • Live out the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) values: Respect, Collaboration, Participation, Dignity, and Empowerment.

What’s in It for You?

After a recent review, we’ve boosted pay to reflect the value of this vital work. Here’s what you’ll enjoy:

  • Competitive Salary: Grade G/H (experience/qualifications set your level), including a £1.4808/hour Distant Islands Allowance.
  • Generous Perks: Great holiday allowance, Local Government Pension, flexible working, and family-friendly policies.
  • Growth: A varied role with excellent training and development opportunities.
  • Extras: Employee benefits to sweeten the deal!

What We’re Looking For

  • A caring, empathetic soul with integrity and a positive vibe.
  • Ability to provide stellar service by understanding and meeting people’s needs.
  • Openness, honesty, and a drive to grow and improve.
  • Responsibility and a can-do attitude as a council team member.

Travel Note: You’ll often need to get around Shetland to support clients—a full driving license is a big plus (sometimes essential, depending on the role). We’ll clarify travel needs during the hiring process.

Role Details

  • Location: Support at Home Central, Annsbrae, Lerwick, Shetland.
  • Hours: Permanent, with flexible options—let’s chat about what works for you!
  • Requirements: PVG Scheme membership (we’ll help), SSSC registration upon starting, and two non-family references.
  • Sponsorship: Need a UK visa? Mention it in your application—we’ll assess eligibility.
  • Extras: No relocation package, but we cover interview travel within Shetland. Flexible working? Absolutely, let’s talk!
