Rise Up in Sefton is recruiting for a Community Prevention and Education Practitioner.
Under the supervision of the Team Leader, the post holder will provide and coordinate education and training programmes. These will be delivered in classrooms, workshops, and online (e-learning) to assist colleagues, partner agencies, local businesses, carers, youth, and community organisations.
The job holder will deliver training, such as how to assess Young People Substance Misuse utilising our “What’s the Score?” triage. They will also provide training on quick interventions for drug and alcohol usage. It will assist the student appreciate the broader consequences of drug and alcohol usage. In addition, the post holder will oversee the delivery of annual training packages based on the needs of the local community and workforce.
The post holder will work across a variety of services within the Sefton footprint, particularly in educational institutions, but also in GP practices and primary care settings, health and social care agencies, and in larger community settings.
In addition, you will help to create ties with the larger community network and Community Groups, which will involve social media marketing. You will assist Service User Involvement, Peer Mentors, and Volunteers in the training and development of Service User Representatives, Recovery Graduates, and Volunteers.
The post holder will be expected to work flexibly within an agreed-upon amount of hours and across operating sites as needed.

Hours: 37.5 each week.
Salary range: £27,449.53 – £31,529.41 pro rata (based on experience).
Responsibilities
Key Activities
- To create and give training in brief interventions regarding alcohol, substance use, and prevention.
- To develop and deliver community education initiatives across Sefton partnership to raise knowledge, understanding, and resilience, to eliminate stigma, and to promote early intervention and service signposting.
- Under the direction of the Team Leader, proactively seek and develop opportunities to deliver education and preventative interventions throughout Sefton, including partnership agencies, community organisations, businesses, and other groups.
- To promote harm reduction from alcohol and substances, including cannabis and novel psychoactive substances, by establishing and maintaining ties with partner agencies and local support services.
About You:
- You will be required to work across many operational sites in the area as needed, as well as to be flexible within an agreed-upon amount of hours, in order to provide the best level of service possible. This will require evening and weekend work.
- Take responsibility for personal development, identify your training needs, and participate in frequent monitoring and appraisal.
