Registered Nurse – Ward 9
Location: University Hospital Wishaw
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Rotational
About the Role
As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in assessing patient needs, planning care programmes, and delivering and evaluating care to ensure the highest standards are met. You will be expected to work independently, carrying out all forms of nursing care without direct supervision.
In this position, you may also be required to demonstrate procedures to and supervise junior staff, including registered/unregistered colleagues and student nurses. Your responsibilities may vary depending on the ward setting and the level of patient dependency.
Additional Responsibilities After Two Years Post-Registration
Coordinate and supervise the work of other team members to ensure best practices in patient care.
Provide leadership in the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse or Team Leader to support the day-to-day operation of the ward.

What We’re Looking For
Essential Criteria:
- NMC Registered Nurse (valid registration required)
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively on your own initiative
- Excellent interpersonal and listening abilities
- Sound time management and organisational skills
- Basic IT proficiency
Please note: If a driving licence is required for the role, it must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Educated to degree level or completion of post-registration training
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD), such as Flying Start or PREP compliance
- Designation as a Cleanliness Champion
- Post-registration clinical skills (e.g., IV drug therapy, cannulation, phlebotomy)
- Experience using NHS patient management systems
