About the Role
Are you a passionate and experienced Children’s Occupational Therapist ready to make a real impact? We’re offering an exciting opportunity to join our supportive and dynamic paediatric team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.
We’re looking to recruit two Band 6 Occupational Therapists to join our Children’s Therapy Service, working with children and young people aged 0–19 with developmental, neurological, and physical needs. If you’re a Band 5 looking to advance, we welcome applications for a Band 5–6 development role.
You’ll support children in reaching their potential and fully participating in daily activities at home, school, and in the community. Working across health, education, and social care environments, you’ll be part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team that includes Physiotherapists and Speech and Language Therapists.
Key Responsibilities
Independently manage a varied caseload of children and young people with complex needs using evidence-based, client-centred practice.
Lead assessments, planning, interventions, and evaluations to maximise independence and minimise disability.
Supervise and appraise junior staff and students, contributing to team leadership and development.
Deliver interventions in various settings including homes, schools, and on the children’s ward to support timely discharges.
Assess, prescribe, and review specialist equipment and adaptations for children with multiple and complex needs.
Liaise effectively with education, health, and social care colleagues, fulfilling service-level agreement requirements.
Apply advanced clinical reasoning, research, and problem-solving skills to develop and implement individualised treatment plans.
Contribute to service development and defined projects within the Children’s Therapy Service.
Work independently in varied environments, occasionally in physically challenging or confined spaces.
What You’ll Need
A recognised Occupational Therapy qualification (Dip COT or BSc/MSc in Occupational Therapy).
Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Experience working with children and young people with a range of physical and/or sensory processing needs affecting daily life.
Confidence in working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and engaging with families, schools, and services.
