The Role
We are seeking a Technician Demonstrator to support the delivery of teaching and learning in Set Design & Production for theatre, TV, film, and events.
This role focuses on the planning, development, and safe delivery of technical workshops, ensuring students gain hands-on experience across a range of equipment, tools, and materials. You will work with students on programmes including Set Design & Production, Acting, and the MA Portfolio, supervising practical sessions and supporting their creative and technical development.
Key responsibilities include:
Demonstrating equipment, software, and technical processes to students.
Supervising workshops, rehearsals, and productions, providing technical guidance and support.
Maintaining, servicing, and overseeing stock control for theatres, rehearsal spaces, and workshops.
Ensuring facilities are kept clean, safe, secure, and ready for use.
Supporting academic colleagues with events, exhibitions, and interdisciplinary projects.
Contributing to research, training, and continuous professional development to enhance the student learning experience.
This role requires a broad knowledge of production, technical, and workshop practices, with the ability to inspire and support students across a variety of creative disciplines.

Additional Information
Annual leave: 28 days plus 8 bank holidays and 4 university closure days (pro rata).
This role may be eligible for visa sponsorship (subject to Home Office salary thresholds).
