Job Description

About UCL EEE

The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at UCL, founded in 1885 by Sir Ambrose Fleming (inventor of the thermionic valve), is the oldest department of its kind in England. We are recognised for pioneering innovation in research, education, and industry collaboration. Our department is committed to supporting staff and student development and maintaining excellence across technical, academic, and operational areas.

The Role

We are seeking a Technical Administration Officer to support the department’s technical infrastructure and safety operations. This hybrid role combines hands-on practical support with administrative responsibilities, ensuring the smooth delivery of services essential to our teaching and research activities.

You’ll work closely with senior technical staff and liaise regularly with academic colleagues, students, contractors, and visitors. The position is based fully on-site at the Bloomsbury campus and is available from 5 January 2026.

Key Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day technical and administrative assistance to support labs, facilities, and safety operations.

Help coordinate health & safety protocols, building maintenance, and infrastructure-related tasks.

Engage with a range of stakeholders including technical teams, students, academics, and external contractors.

Contribute to project administration, resource tracking, and documentation processes.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

Prior experience in a technical or administrative support role in a large organisation (e.g., higher education, public sector, or industry).

The ability to manage a diverse workload combining physical tasks and office-based responsibilities.

Strong communication and organisational skills, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

A collaborative approach, working well independently and as part of a team.

Experience supporting infrastructure or safety projects is desirable.
