About the Role

The School of Chemistry, Food and Pharmacy at the University of Reading is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Organic Chemist with a strong interest in Chemistry Education to join our team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.

This is a teaching-focused position, ideal for someone who is passionate about delivering high-quality, engaging, and innovative teaching in Organic Chemistry. You will contribute to undergraduate teaching, including core organic chemistry modules, laboratory classes, and blended learning initiatives.

You will be part of a collaborative team committed to delivering a challenging and inclusive curriculum that supports both domestic and international students. As part of your role, you will also contribute to curriculum development and take on appropriate administrative duties within the Department of Chemistry.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality teaching in Organic Chemistry across undergraduate programmes

Lead and support laboratory classes, lectures, tutorials, and blended learning activities

Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and educational innovation

Contribute to assessment, feedback, and student support

Undertake relevant administrative duties within the department

About You

You will have:

A PhD in Organic Chemistry or a closely related discipline

Experience teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level

A commitment to innovative, student-centred teaching practices

Proficiency in using digital tools and IT resources to enhance learning

Experience with or commitment to inclusive curriculum design and blended learning in higher education
