Role Summary
The Department of Archaeology is seeking a Teaching Fellow to join our team on a part-time, fixed-term basis (0.8 FTE) for six months. This position will cover a research leave and is ideal for someone with strong expertise in Scottish archaeology and field-based archaeological practice.
The successful candidate will bring practical knowledge to our Professional Archaeology courses, take the lead on teaching a key Archaeology of Scotland module, and coordinate two core undergraduate modules:
Level 2: Prehistoric Britain
Level 3: Archaeological Portfolio
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality teaching across a range of undergraduate modules
Coordinate and teach the Archaeology of Scotland module
Coordinate and contribute to teaching on Prehistoric Britain (Level 2) and Archaeological Portfolio (Level 3)
Provide student support, including marking, feedback, and academic guidance
Contribute practical and fieldwork-based insights to course delivery
Candidate Requirements
Strong background in Scottish archaeology, particularly prehistoric periods
Experience in field-based archaeology and practical archaeological methods
Proven teaching experience or potential to teach at university level
Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to teaching coordination
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Additional Information
Start date: To be confirmed, but for a 6-month period
