Overview

The Department of Archaeology within the School of Geosciences is seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow on a part-time basis (0.8 Full-Time Equivalent) for a period of six months. This role is intended to provide teaching cover during a period of staff research leave.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in Scottish archaeology and field-based archaeological practice. The successful applicant will bring practical and professional experience to contribute effectively to the delivery of core teaching modules and fieldwork components.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver teaching in the Archaeology of Scotland module.

Coordinate and teach the Level 2: Prehistoric Britain and Level 3: Archaeological Portfolio courses.

Contribute to Professional Archaeology teaching, with emphasis on fieldwork skills and applied practice.

Support undergraduate students through lectures, seminars, fieldwork, and academic guidance.

Essential Requirements

A relevant academic background in Archaeology, preferably with a focus on Scottish archaeology.

Experience in field-based archaeological methods and instruction.

Ability to design and deliver engaging and high-quality teaching.

Strong organisational and communication skills.

Additional Information

Visa Sponsorship: This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route. Applicants must therefore have the right to work in the UK at the time of application.

Salary: £38,249 per annum, pro rata to 80% FTE.

Location: Based at the University of Aberdeen.
