About the role
We are looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic individual to join our Domestic Services Team as a Support Services Assistant. This role is key to maintaining clean, safe and welcoming environments that support patient care, staff wellbeing and visitor confidence.
You will work within a community hospital setting, where your contribution will make a visible difference every day. Whether working independently or as part of a team, your work will help ensure services run smoothly and safely.
What you will be doing
In this role, you will:
- Deliver high-quality domestic cleaning services across wards, departments and communal areas
- Support hotel services activities in line with agreed standards and schedules
- Follow health, safety and infection prevention procedures at all times
- Use cleaning materials and equipment safely and correctly
- Adapt to changing priorities, including cleaning in different departments when required
- Work flexibly across the week, including weekends
- Demonstrate respect, professionalism and care when interacting with patients, visitors and colleagues
- Full training will be provided, and previous experience—while helpful—is not essential.
- Working pattern and flexibility
- 16 hours per week
- Shifts worked across Monday to Sunday
- Based at Newtown Hospital
- Ability to travel locally when required

Essential requirements
Experience and ability
- Understanding of safe cleaning practices and techniques, gained through work or transferable experience
- Ability to organise your own workload and follow instructions
- Willingness to adapt to changing priorities, sometimes within tight timescales
- Ability to travel within the local geographical area
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends

Desirable criteria
- Literacy and numeracy skills at Level 1
- Ability to speak Welsh
- Previous experience in a cleaning or domestic services role
Training and development
You will receive full induction and ongoing training to support you in the role. Powys Teaching Health Board actively encourages staff development and offers opportunities to build skills and progress within the organisation.
