Job Description

Join Our Team: Outpatient Nurse in Orthopaedics and Rheumatology

We’re thrilled to offer a rewarding role supporting patients in our busy Orthopaedics and Rheumatology outpatient departments at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a full-time position, though we’re open to discussing part-time arrangements. Our standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:30.

About the Role

You’ll be part of a friendly, dedicated team delivering high-quality care across multiple sites. Our departments include:

  • The modern Fracture Clinic and Rheumatology outpatient clinics in the Louisa Martindale Building at Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton (opened in 2023, with state-of-the-art facilities for patients and staff).
  • The Sussex Orthopaedic Treatment Centre outpatients at Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath.

The role is primarily based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, but flexibility to work across sites when needed is essential.

You’ll collaborate closely with both Orthopaedic and Rheumatology teams, assisting in consultant-led clinics and nurse-led wound care sessions. Our supportive team will provide full training in any specialist skills required, helping you build confidence and expertise—whether that’s running your own wound clinics or contributing to smooth clinic operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering compassionate, patient-centred care in an outpatient setting.
  • Working independently in nurse-led clinics while benefiting from strong team support.
  • Helping maintain a positive, collaborative work environment.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a motivated, enthusiastic registered nurse with excellent teamwork skills and a genuine commitment to patient care. Experience in outpatients, orthopaedics, or rheumatology is a bonus, but not essential—we’re happy to invest in your development.

We welcome applications from nurses with current UK NMC registration. Please note that we are unable to offer direct sponsorship for internationally qualified nurses at this time.

This role may be eligible for visa sponsorship via the UK Skilled Worker route. However, sponsorship is only available if you meet all UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) criteria, including skill level, salary thresholds, and any job-specific requirements.
