Job Description

Interventional Radiology Theatres at Hull Royal Infirmary offers a highly respected vascular, neuro-vascular, and non-vascular interventional service, backed by exceptional resources and a dedicated, professional team of Radiologists, Radiographers, and Nurses. Our services include a regional mechanical thrombectomy program for stroke patients.

We are currently seeking to recruit Band 5 Staff Nurses to join our team. Full training, mentorship, and support will be provided to candidates who demonstrate the right qualities and a genuine interest in radiology nursing.

Our department typically operates Monday to Friday, with a 24-hour on-call emergency service. After completing your initial training and successful assessment, you will be required to participate in the on-call rota. For this reason, all team members are expected to live within 30 minutes of Hull Royal Infirmary (HRI), and it is preferred that they have their own transport.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a new challenge in an expanding specialty, with the full support of a remarkable team that is committed to helping you reach your full potential. We strongly encourage informal visits to get to know the team and the department.

For an informal discussion, please contact Richard Horsfield, Charge Nurse, on 01482 675667.

Main duties of the job:

  • Providing nursing care to patients undergoing interventional radiological procedures.
  • Scrubbing and circulating during procedures.
  • Recovery of patients in the day unit.
  • Administering intravenous medications and conscious sedation.
  • Performing pre-assessments for patients.

An informal visit is highly recommended to discuss the role further.

Working for our organisation: The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community NHS partnerships, caring for over one million patients annually and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion. The partnership is made up of two trusts—Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH)—and serves a population of 1.65 million people.

Together, we employ nearly 20,000 staff across our five main hospital sites: Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital, and Goole and District Hospital (NLAG), and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital (HUTH).

As Teaching Hospitals in collaboration with Hull York Medical School, we lead and contribute to research in a variety of areas including biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery, and oncology.

We believe that by fostering a diverse, inclusive, innovative, and skilled workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a bright future for our employees, our partnership, and our community.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities: Please see the attached job description and person specification for a full outline of the role and responsibilities. We strongly recommend an informal visit to the department.

Applications from candidates requiring Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. You can assess your eligibility for a Certificate of Sponsorship by reviewing the criteria on the gov.uk website.
