Job Description
About the Role
The University of Sussex is seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to an ambitious MRC-funded transdisciplinary hub aimed at accelerating the decarbonisation of healthcare commissioning and service delivery. This post forms part of Sub-Theme 4: Digital and Remote Care Pathways, an area focused on identifying, assessing, and supporting sustainable innovations in digital healthcare.
You will work primarily with the sub-theme team led by Professor Dimitra Petrakaki (University of Sussex Business School), collaborating closely with the wider programme directed by Professor Mahmood Bhutta at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS).
Your research will play an important role in understanding how digitalisation can reduce environmental impact while enabling effective, accessible models of remote care.
About You
Applicants should hold — or be close to completing — a PhD in digital health, healthcare management, remote care technologies, sustainability in healthcare, or a closely related field. Equivalent professional research experience is also welcome.
You should demonstrate:
- Ability to work independently while contributing to team-based research
- Experience conducting impactful research on digital or remote healthcare pathways
- Confidence managing your own research schedule
- Evidence of influencing policy, stakeholder engagement, or advocacy work that produces real-world change
