Event Manager

Job Purpose

To oversee the design and execution of events within Careers, Employability, and Opportunity, allowing students to interact with a varied range of employers, groups, and alumni. The events programme will include new formats and activities that foster meaningful relationships and interactions, with the goal of improving the student experience and preparing students for their future employment.

Main Duties

1. Oversee the design and execution of current events such as recruitment fairs, networking events, sector insight days, and industry weeks, while also establishing new and unique events filled with creativity to ensure engaging experiences.

2. Work with the Academic Partnerships Team and the Employer Engagement Manager to create College/School-specific activities that promote employability.

3. Develop complete event timetables and marketing plans for both online and offline events, geared to efficiently boost student involvement and engagement while maintaining exceptional customer service.

4. Collaborate with the Employer Engagement Manager to broaden and diversify the organisations, academic departments, alumni, and people involved.

5. Oversee all technical aspects of events, such as booking processes, catering arrangements, and technology, to guarantee smooth execution and a great experience for attendees.

6. Ensure that all necessary health and safety procedures, rules, and legislation are followed, including risk assessments.

7. Proactively find and establish new sponsorship partnerships, oversee financial record-keeping for events, particularly those with fees, and ensure accuracy throughout the event delivery process.

8. Monitor and assess event feedback, and prepare reports to help with internal reporting by analysing data and making recommendations for future events.

9. Collaborate with other members of the Careers, Employability, and Opportunity team to deliver the aforementioned tasks, as well as any other relevant and suitable duties assigned by the Lead Event Manager or Head of Employer Engagement.

Essential:

A1 Either: the capacity to demonstrate the competencies required to perform the tasks of this level of post, having gained the relevant knowledge and abilities through personal development and advancement in a related role(s). Or: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 8 (Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4, Higher National Diploma) or equivalent, with personal development experience in a similar job.

A2 Understanding of the graduate labour market and concerns concerning student employability.

A3 Working knowledge of event management software.

Desirable:

B1 Knowledge of Target Connect.

Experience

Essential:

E1 Experience coordinating in-person and online events.

E2 Experience working with varied client audiences in event delivery.

E3 Experience successfully producing events as part of a team.

E4 Experience with stakeholder involvement and reputation management.

E5 Experience managing event finances and resources.

E6 Experience arranging events, including risk assessments.

E7 Experience creating complete engagement plans, as well as organising and implementing effective events.

E8 Experience getting sponsorships and driving event sales.

E9 Experience handling event-related databases.

Terms & Conditions.

The annual salary for Grade 6 will be £32,332 – £36,024.

This position is full-time (35 hours per week) and has a fixed term until July 31, 2025, to cover secondment leave.
