About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Gynaecology Outpatients Team at Princess Royal Hospital. We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and compassionate Senior Health Care Support Worker who is keen to develop specialist skills within gynaecology and women’s health.
This is a patient-facing role in a busy outpatient setting, supporting women through sensitive examinations, investigations, and procedures. You will work closely with nurses, clinical nurse specialists, sonographers, and medical staff to deliver safe, dignified, and individualised care.
This role is ideal for a motivated Health Care Support Worker who thrives in a dynamic environment, maintains high standards, and values teamwork, empathy, and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Support
- Provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients attending gynaecology outpatient clinics
- Support patients before, during, and after procedures, ensuring comfort, dignity, and safety
- Act as a chaperone and assist clinicians during examinations and procedures
- Take and record clinical observations accurately
- Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent or emergency situations
- Escalate concerns regarding patient condition, safety risks, or hazards to the nurse in charge
Advocacy & Communication
- Ensure patients understand their care and feel supported to give informed consent
- Act as a patient advocate, representing patient views and concerns respectfully
- Communicate clearly and sensitively with patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team
Clinic & Service Support
- Contribute to the smooth and efficient running of gynaecology outpatient clinics
- Maintain appropriate stock levels and ensure equipment is available and functional
- Support clinic flow by working flexibly and collaboratively with the wider team

To qualify for sponsorship, applicants must:
- Evidence a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Band 3 Health Care Assistant within the NHS
- Meet the required salary threshold (£25,000) and skill level
- Fulfil all UKVI role-specific criteria

Essential Application Evidence

- A Care Certificate from an Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation, or

Person Specification
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months NHS or NHS primary care experience
- Care Certificate (Ofqual regulated) or verified international clinical qualification
- Experience working at a Level 3 standard of care, evidenced through a portfolio or professional discussion
- Ability to deliver non-judgemental, compassionate, and individualised care
Desirable Experience
- Gynaecology service experience
- Outpatient clinic experience
