About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and technically minded professional with a strong focus on Building Management Systems (BMS) and controls to join our Estates team. This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the future of our estate while contributing to the delivery of sustainable, high-quality environments for our staff and students.
You’ll work as part of a team of dedicated Estates professionals, supporting maintenance, building improvement works, and strategic upgrades. A key part of the role involves supporting the University’s carbon reduction goals and improving energy efficiency across a diverse estate with buildings of varying age and complexity.
Day-to-day, you’ll help lead the integration of modern technologies, monitor building performance, contribute to the asset lifecycle programme, and ensure that investments are strategically aligned and cost-effective.
About You
We’re looking for a specialist with strong knowledge of both the hardware and software elements of BMS and controls. Your experience in building performance, energy efficiency, and carbon reduction strategies will be vital to supporting our sustainability ambitions.
You should have a proven track record in:
- Monitoring systems and fault diagnostics
- Managing external contractors
- Writing technical briefs and reports
- Communicating complex technical information to a range of stakeholders
Experience working in operational environments—such as construction sites, plant rooms, or across a multi-campus estate—is essential. Strong time management and the ability to juggle multiple priorities are key to success in this role.
You’ll be joining a team responsible for the infrastructure of systems such as:
- Building Management Systems (BMS for HVAC monitoring)
- Fire alarm systems
- Access control, CCTV, and intruder alarms
- IT and telephony infrastructure
