Role Overview
UCL Energy Institute is seeking a Lecturer in Energy and Artificial Intelligence to contribute to its growing research and teaching portfolio in AI-driven energy systems.
This role is suited to an early-career academic with strong expertise in artificial intelligence and its application to energy, sustainability, and climate-related challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead an independent research programme in AI applications for energy systems.
Apply advanced machine learning and data analytics techniques to real-world energy challenges.
Contribute to interdisciplinary research collaborations with academic, industry, and policy partners.
Teach and develop modules across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
Supervise MSc and BSc students, including dissertation projects.
Support innovation in energy systems, sustainability, and data-driven decision-making.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- A PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Energy Systems, or a related discipline.
Strong expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and data analytics applied to energy systems.
Experience with large datasets, time-series modelling, forecasting, and simulation.
Knowledge of advanced techniques such as reinforcement learning or causal modelling (desirable).
A strong research track record with publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Experience in teaching and student supervision.
Ability to build collaborations and deliver impactful research.
