Senior Compliance Manager – Risk and Resilience Directorate

The University of Oxford is seeking a Senior Compliance Manager to ensure the effective integration and operation of compliance arrangements across the institution. In this pivotal role, you will provide expert advice and contribute to the development of University-wide policies and strategic planning.

Salary: £55,636 – £64,228 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

The Assurance Directorate

The Assurance Directorate, a growing component of the University Administration and Services (UAS), manages internal audit, risk management, compliance, data protection, and information security.

The Risk and Resilience Team

This team oversees business continuity, major incident management, risk management, compliance, internal audit, and assurance.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Risk and Resilience, this role offers an exciting opportunity to work across a wide range of University activities and take responsibility for significant areas of work within an evolving regulatory environment.

The role has three main focus areas:

  • Coordination of Governance and Compliance: Overseeing projects and compliance work in areas managed by the team, including Conflicts of Interest, Anti-Bribery, Gifts and Hospitality.
  • Supporting the Head of Risk and Resilience: Assisting in ensuring the University has effective and comprehensive compliance procedures in place.
  • Contributing to the Risk and Resilience Team’s Work: Supporting the broader efforts of the team as directed by the Head of Risk and Resilience.

About You

  • Qualifications: A degree or equivalent and strong analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to make clear, consistent judgments.
  • Experience: Significant recent experience in a senior-level compliance role within a large, complex organization.
  • Knowledge: Expertise in core compliance topics such as conflicts of interest, bribery and corruption, gifts and hospitality, sanctions, and anti-trust laws.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written communication skills, with experience in producing clear committee papers, presentations, and policies. Excellent oral communication and presentation skills are also required.
  • Relationship Management: Proven ability to work collaboratively and build trust with people at all levels, both within and outside the University.
  • Problem-Solving: A flexible and creative approach to identifying solutions to complex issues.
  • University Understanding: An understanding of the University’s culture and purpose, with a commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards in administrative services that support teaching and research.
  • Prioritization: Ability to manage multiple tasks and work well under pressure.

This role is eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa. The University will cover the cost of the visa and NHS surcharge for applicants who require sponsorship.
