Role Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Physiotherapist who is passionate about musculoskeletal (MSK) care and keen to further develop specialist clinical skills within a supportive NHS environment.
The successful candidates will join the MSK physiotherapy service across Doncaster and Bassetlaw, working across a combination of hospital and community locations depending on service needs. Flexible working is encouraged where possible, and efforts are made to minimise unnecessary travel.
The role may also involve participation in out-of-hours or on-call services following assessment of competence and readiness.
Purpose of the Role
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centred MSK physiotherapy within outpatient and community settings.
- Use advanced clinical reasoning to assess, diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
- Support service development through evidence-based practice and quality improvement.
- Contribute to the education and supervision of colleagues, students and support staff.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Practice
- Assess, diagnose and provide personalised treatment plans for patients with musculoskeletal conditions.
- Work as an autonomous practitioner while maintaining strong multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Deliver care that is compassionate, safe and aligned with best practice standards.
- Maintain accurate, timely and legally compliant patient records.
Service Development & Quality
- Contribute ideas to improve patient pathways and clinical outcomes.
- Participate in clinical audit, service evaluation and research activities.
- Support implementation of evidence-based approaches across the MSK service.
- Assist in maintaining high standards of clinical governance and safety.
Education & Professional Development
- Take part in a structured CPD programme including monthly coaching and dedicated learning sessions.
- Support supervision and development of junior staff, students and therapy assistants.
- Attend a Clinical Educator course within the first six months of appointment.
- Maintain a reflective professional portfolio demonstrating ongoing learning.
Team & Service Contribution
- Work collaboratively within outpatient and community teams.
- Adapt to changing service priorities and patient demand.
- Contribute to out-of-hours physiotherapy provision where appropriate.

Person Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Degree or MSc in Physiotherapy with licence to practise.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Evidence of CPD and reflective practice portfolio.
Desirable Qualifications
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
- Participation in professional or specialist MSK networks.
- Evidence of postgraduate (Level 7) study or equivalent.
Essential Experience
- Substantial experience within MSK outpatient services.
- Confidence managing a wide range of acute and long-term musculoskeletal conditions.
- Ability to independently assess, clinically reason and deliver tailored treatment plans.
- Experience contributing to audit, research or service improvement.
- Involvement in supervision or education of learners or staff.
Desirable Experience
- Understanding or use of quality improvement methodologies in practice.

- Ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation.
