The Role
The Sussex Health Outcomes Research and Education in Cancer (SHORE-C) unit, based at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS), is seeking a highly organized and proactive Senior Administrator.
You will manage all aspects of SHORE-C’s finance and administration, working closely with the Director, Deputy Director, and research team. The role includes:
Overseeing research grant management and financial administration.
Supporting applications for new research funding (from charities, industry, and national/international bodies).
Providing high-level administrative support to academic staff.
Assisting with the planning and delivery of training courses for healthcare professionals and SHORE-C conferences.
This role sits at the heart of SHORE-C, a research team focused on psychosocial oncology.
About You
We are looking for someone who can take initiative, manage competing priorities, and work confidently with a wide range of people. You will bring:
Experience in a busy office environment.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
The ability to develop and manage systems that ensure deadlines are met.
Confidence to make decisions independently and adapt to the needs of SHORE-C.
The post involves regular interaction with academic colleagues, industry partners, healthcare professionals, and patients, so professionalism and flexibility are essential.
