Job Description
The Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Technician to join our Concrete and Civil Engineering team. You will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation of our laboratories, supporting teaching, research, and consultancy projects. This role is highly practical and requires hands-on technical expertise to manage specialist facilities and equipment.
You will play a key part in:
Teaching support – supervising multiple student groups in laboratory sessions, ensuring safe and effective learning environments.
Health & safety – maintaining compliance with safety regulations, PPE standards, and best practices.
Equipment management – carrying out regular maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting to minimise downtime.
Research support – assisting with experimental setups, data systems, and providing technical advice for high-quality research.
Innovation – introducing new methods and improving laboratory processes to enhance the student and staff experience.
Forklift driving experience is desirable.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Accuracy in record-keeping and data management.
Good IT, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information
Starting salary: £39,407 per annum, with potential progression up to £43,850.
