About Us
The UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) is a globally leading multidisciplinary research institute with over 900 staff investigating neurodegenerative disorders that cause dementia. The Institute drives advances in understanding neurodegeneration and accelerates the development of diagnostics, treatments, and preventive interventions.
The Single Cell and Spatial Omics (SCSO) Platform provides wet-lab experiments and computational analysis using single-cell and spatial -omics techniques for UK DRI researchers, the UCL Institute of Neurology, and affiliated labs. The Platform also offers access to specialised equipment, training, experimental advice, and support for grant applications.
About the Role
Reporting to the Platform Manager, you will:
Provide technical support, services, and collaborative opportunities across UK DRI researchers.
Enable access to single-cell and spatial -omics techniques across multiple sites.
Process and analyse large datasets from experiments and perform bioinformatics analysis or advise on analysis strategies.
Apply spatial transcriptomics techniques to support UK DRI scientists in their research projects.
Collaborate on research spanning neurodegenerative disease types, mechanisms, and models, ensuring high-quality data for UK DRI’s scientific objectives.
Contract Details
The post is funded by UK DRI for 18 months initially, with possible extension.
The role is eligible for a Skilled Worker Visa or Global Talent Visa under UK Visas and Immigration regulations. UCL welcomes applications from international candidates requiring a visa.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
A PhD in Neuroscience or a related field.
Extensive experience in producing, designing, and building spatial transcriptomics systems.
Expertise in designing and implementing analysis pipelines for spatial transcriptomics data.
Advanced computational skills in Python, R, and Bash, including selection of cell type marker genes.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
