About Us
The Department of Translational Neuroscience and Stroke at UCL is at the forefront of advancing understanding of neurological disease mechanisms and developing innovative therapies. Our multidisciplinary expertise spans neuroscience, clinical neurology, and computational modelling, with a strong focus on translating research into tangible impact for patients.
We are launching a five-year, MRC-funded Deep Network Modelling in Neuro-oncology programme, aimed at:
Building predictive frameworks for patient outcomes
Enabling personalised treatment strategies
Unlocking disease mechanisms to inform next-generation therapeutics
The initiative is hosted within the High-Dimensional Neurology Group, with leadership from Dr James Ruffle, who directs the neuro-oncology research stream.
The Role
We are seeking an accomplished researcher to join this flagship programme as Senior Research Fellow. This role will be pivotal in advancing AI-driven and network-modelling approaches in brain tumour research, leveraging unique, large-scale datasets.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading research in high-dimensional data modelling, including NLP and multi-modal imaging
Driving scientific outputs through publications and major grant applications
Overseeing data governance, curation, and advanced
Providing strategic input into the direction of the research group
Mentoring junior researchers and supervising students
Engaging in interdisciplinary collaborations and external partnerships

About You
Applicants should demonstrate:
A PhD in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Computational Neuroscience, or a related field
Postdoctoral research experience with a strong publication or funding track record
Expertise in machine learning, network neuroscience, or computational modelling
High-level programming skills (Python essential)
Proven ability to work with large, complex datasets
A strong commitment to innovation, translational impact, and multidisciplinary collaboration
We are particularly interested in candidates who combine scientific excellence with ambition to deliver real-world impact in neuro-oncology.
This role meets the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker visa or Global Talent visa, and international applications are encouraged.
