About the Role
As part of the Quality, Safety, and Security Assurance (QSSA) team within the Risk and Assurance Directorate, your role will be pivotal in ensuring that TfL maintains high standards of asset quality, safety, and risk controls across its operational and maintenance environments. You will lead a team of auditors and oversee the development and delivery of audit and consultancy assignments. Your goal will be to help TfL Directors and Senior Managers assess the effectiveness of risk and governance controls and implement improvements.
You will work closely with stakeholders to ensure that audits provide valuable insights into risk management and governance. Additionally, you will drive continuous improvements within the team, enhancing efficiency and fostering professional growth. You will also collaborate with internal teams to analyze findings, identify trends, and apply best practices across TfL.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of auditors, managing a portfolio of audit and consultancy assignments.
- Ensure audit reports meet time and quality standards.
- Provide senior leaders with insights on risk and governance controls.
- Work with audit action owners to track and ensure timely corrective actions.
- Promote the development of the team and continuous improvement of processes.
- Share knowledge and data to enhance risk management practices across the organization.
About You
We are looking for an experienced and confident leader with technical expertise in audit principles and a strong understanding of TfL’s strategic objectives. You should have a proven track record of managing audits effectively, applying quality management principles (including ISO9001), and managing health and safety risks through a risk-based approach.
You will be adept at working with senior stakeholders and be able to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally, with diverse technical teams. Your ability to make sound decisions and balance competing requirements will be essential.
You should have:
- A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field (e.g. HSE, Quality, Engineering, Auditing).
- A professional qualification in a relevant area is also required.
- A proven ability to manage audits and lead teams to deliver high-quality results.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders and influencing decision-making.
- A commitment to inclusive leadership and fostering a collaborative work environment.
