Role Overview

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced and compassionate professional to join the Whitby and Ryedale Integrated Community Mental Health Team. Based at Princess Road Clinic in Malton (with additional work across Whitby), you will play a key role in supporting adults experiencing mental health challenges within the community.

You’ll be part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team that includes nurses, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, pharmacists, and support staff. The service is fast-paced and varied, offering a dynamic working environment where no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload as a care coordinator, supporting patients throughout their care journey from referral to discharge
    Deliver person-centred care both independently and collaboratively within the MDT
    Participate in the duty rota, responding to urgent and routine cases
    Provide guidance and supervision to junior staff members
    Support and mentor students on clinical placements
    Work closely with patients, families, and carers to ensure effective and compassionate care delivery

Essential Requirements

Qualifications

  • Current registration with a recognised UK professional body (e.g. NMC, HCPC, SWE)
    At least 18 months post-qualification experience, including completion of preceptorship
    Evidence of ongoing professional development
    Teaching/mentoring qualification (or willingness to achieve within timeframe)
    Basic IT, literacy, and numeracy skills

Experience

  • Strong background in supporting individuals with mental health conditions
    Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
    Ability to supervise or mentor others in a clinical setting
    Experience engaging with service users and their families/carers

Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of:

  • Risk assessment and management
    Psychological approaches to care
    Relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act
    Ability to communicate complex information clearly and sensitively
    Strong teamwork and leadership capabilities

Desirable Criteria

  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field
    Leadership or management training
    Experience working in community mental health settings
    Skills such as venepuncture
