About the Department
The Campus Life and Student Living team provides services that shape and enhance the student experience. Within this, our Security Team plays a vital role—often as the first point of contact for staff, students, and visitors—ensuring a welcoming, safe, and secure environment across all University and Halls of Residence sites.
The Role
You will work 37 hours per week on fixed night shifts (20:30–07:00, 4 on / 4 off rotation).
As part of our Security Team, you will:
Provide a visible, welcoming, and safe presence across all sites.
Carry out proactive patrols, respond to incidents, and support Halls of Residence security.
Conduct investigations into breaches of security, discipline, or incidents of crime, producing clear reports.
Work closely with students, staff, and visitors to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
Operate and monitor security systems, including CCTV, alarms, and access control.
Liaise with Police and external agencies as required.
Act as a first aider (training provided).
About You
Essential:
Full, clean UK driving licence.
Experience in a security or customer-facing role within a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Proven ability to handle incidents, conflict, and investigations effectively.
Willingness to travel between University sites.
Ability to deliver excellent customer service.
Completed (or willing to complete) a Basic DBS check.
Desirable:
Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence (Level 2).
Valid SIA CCTV Licence.
First Aid qualification.

Important Information
The University cannot sponsor this role under the Skilled Worker visa route. Applicants must demonstrate an existing right to work in the UK.
