About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and qualified School Counsellor to join our dedicated pastoral team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting students’ emotional and mental well-being through confidential, tailored counselling sessions using a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
You will contribute to our whole-school commitment to safeguarding and student welfare, working closely with pastoral leaders, safeguarding staff, and external agencies as required.
Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 counselling and support for students experiencing emotional, mental health, or personal difficulties

Adapt counselling methods to meet the individual needs of diverse students

Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with safeguarding and data protection regulations

Contribute to the wider pastoral care strategy, attending relevant meetings and offering advice to staff when appropriate

Work collaboratively with the Safeguarding and Wellbeing teams
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
-
Recognized counselling qualification (minimum Level 4 Diploma or equivalent)

Accredited or working towards accreditation with a recognized professional body (e.g. BACP, UKCP)

Experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with students

Understanding of safeguarding principles and the ability to manage disclosures appropriately
