Job Description

We are excited to announce the opening of a newly created Research Systems Manager role, responsible for overseeing the implementation and ongoing operation of two major research systems. The first system will be a Current Research Information System (CRIS), followed by the introduction of a research management and costing system at a later stage.

The Research Systems Manager will play a pivotal role in configuring, setting up, and launching these systems. You will engage with key stakeholders and users to ensure smooth adoption of the systems and the processes they support. Additionally, you will develop and deliver comprehensive training for end users. Once the systems are operational, you will take on the responsibility of running, maintaining, and further developing the systems as part of business-as-usual (BAU) operations. Your ability to transition smoothly into BAU responsibilities and utilize the processes and workflows established during the setup phase will be essential for success in this role.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in implementing new research systems and processes.
  • Strong customer service experience, including managing a system helpdesk and training users.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prepare and analyze data reports.
  • Knowledge of research management systems.

The Research Systems Manager will be part of the Research, Engagement, and Innovation Office, collaborating with colleagues across professional services to support Research and Innovation at the University. You’ll be based on the University’s picturesque Whiteknights campus, which has earned 14 consecutive Green Flag awards. We offer a generous annual leave package (26 days, plus 8 closure days and bank holidays) and a flexible working policy.

We welcome applications from both internal and external candidates. This role can be considered on a secondment basis for existing staff members—internal candidates should discuss this with their line manager prior to applying.
