About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Research Nurse to join our Surgery Research Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge clinical research across multiple surgical specialties, including breast surgery, while also supporting research initiatives across the Trust.
The role involves coordinating and delivering clinical research projects across inpatient and outpatient settings. You will also undertake office-based responsibilities such as data management, adherence to confidentiality protocols, and supporting the setup and administration of research studies.
We are looking for a motivated professional who can work independently, as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Flexibility is essential, as the post may involve travel between sites and occasional unsocial hours.
Key Responsibilities
As a Research Nurse, you will:
- Coordinate and manage clinical research trials primarily within surgical specialties
- Identify, screen, and recruit eligible participants in line with study protocols
- Facilitate study visits, collect data, and maintain accurate documentation
- Provide holistic care to participants, ensuring safety, dignity, and adherence to research protocols
- Ensure compliance with ICH-GCP standards, Trust research governance, and relevant legislation
- Support junior colleagues and research assistants in study delivery
- Assist with the planning, setup, and close-down of research projects
- Liaise effectively with multidisciplinary teams, external sponsors, and research partners
- Contribute to Trust-wide research activities as required
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Registration
- Registered Nurse with up-to-date NMC professional registration
Desirable
- Formal qualification in ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
Experience & Skills
- Post-registration experience in an acute care environment
- Strong organisational skills and proficiency with IT, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to manage a personal caseload of patients/projects and prioritise competing demands
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Previous research experience, including venepuncture, ECG, and blood centrifugation, is advantageous
- Experience in breast surgery or surgical research is desirable
