We design, develop, and manufacture advanced aircraft power distribution and avionics systems for global aviation leaders. Dowty Propellers, a GE Aerospace company based in Gloucestershire, is a world leader in electronically controlled composite propeller systems, serving both civil and military markets.
The Role
This 12-month R&D Placement offers hands-on experience working on multidisciplinary and international engineering projects. You’ll contribute to developing next-generation technologies while gaining exposure to the full engineering lifecycle – from design and analysis through to prototyping and testing.

Hands-on testing, performance analysis, and system development
You’ll be guided by structured goals, supported by your People Leader, and mentored by experienced engineers. You’ll also join a cohort of placement students across the UK, building networks and skills for your career.
This placement serves as a pipeline to our Edison Engineering Development Programme (EEDP). Placement students will be invited to apply for graduate positions before the end of their placement year, giving you the opportunity to secure a role prior to your final year at university.
Qualifications & Requirements
Currently studying a Bachelor’s or Integrated Master’s in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Software Engineering
On track for a 2:1 or above
In your penultimate year of study, returning to university after the placement
