About the role

The Department of Education, within the School of Education and Social Work, has been commissioned to evaluate the work and impact of the Network of International Women for Brighton and Hove (NIWBH). NIWBH is a volunteer-led charity supporting vulnerable women, particularly those who have faced war, persecution, violence, language barriers, and insecure immigration status.

The evaluation aims to:

Strengthen NIWBH’s capacity to monitor, evaluate and learn from its work.

Produce a final report identifying the value and impact of NIWBH on women’s lives, social integration, and lessons relevant to other organizations and local authorities.

As Research Assistant, you will work with Professor Linda Morrice, Dr Synne Dyvik, NIWBH colleagues, and a small Advisory Group. Your responsibilities will include:

Establishing monitoring and evaluation processes with NIWBH staff and volunteers.

Developing and piloting outcome indicators with input from women with lived experience.

Conducting qualitative research (interviews, focus groups) and triangulating with quantitative data.

Supporting data collection via paper records and a new CRM system.

Writing a final evaluation report that highlights NIWBH’s impact and contribution to social cohesion in Brighton and Hove.

About you

Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in education, social sciences, or a related field.

Experience with qualitative and mixed-methods research, including interviews and focus groups.

Strong organizational and project management skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with community organizations, volunteers, and people with lived experience.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Experience with monitoring, evaluation, and data systems (desirable).
