Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Paediatric Nurse to join the Day Surgery service, delivering high-quality care to both paediatric and adult patients. This role offers the opportunity to support patients throughout their entire day surgery pathway — from pre-assessment and admission, through theatre and recovery, to safe discharge home.
You will thrive in this post if you enjoy working in a fast-paced clinical environment, value teamwork, and are motivated to continuously develop your skills. This is an excellent opportunity for a paediatric nurse who is passionate about delivering safe, child-centred, and evidence-based care within a supportive perioperative setting.
What You’ll Be Doing
As part of the Day Surgery team, you will:
- Provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care across pre-assessment, admission, theatres, recovery, and discharge areas
- Support children and families through the surgical journey, ensuring clear communication and reassurance at every stage
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary perioperative team, including anaesthetists, surgeons, recovery staff, and theatre practitioners
- Use evidence-based practice to maintain high clinical standards and improve patient outcomes
- Respond effectively to changing clinical priorities in a busy surgical environment
- Support and participate in the education and development of students and junior staff
- Engage in audit, standard setting, and service improvement initiatives where appropriate
- Comprehensive training and structured support will be provided to help you develop confidence and competence across all areas of the Day Surgery service.
