About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our Mendip Assertive Outreach Team. This specialist service provides innovative, community-based care for people living with severe and enduring mental health challenges.
As part of this forward-thinking team, you will play a key role in conducting assessments, delivering psychosocial interventions, and supporting individuals in their recovery journey. The work is varied, rewarding, and makes a real difference to people’s lives.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based mental health care within the community.
- Manage a caseload, leading on assessment, care planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Provide therapeutic and psychosocial support to service users, covering areas such as daily living, housing, and community engagement.
- Offer clinical supervision, guidance, and mentorship to junior colleagues and students.
- Work in partnership with inpatient services, CMHTs, HTTs, GPs, carers, and voluntary/community organisations to ensure continuity of care.
- Actively promote service user involvement in care planning and evaluation.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement projects, and clinical audits.
About You
We are seeking a committed and motivated RMN who:
- Holds current NMC registration (RMN).
- Has post-registration experience in mental health (Band 5 or 6 level).
- Can demonstrate strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
- Is confident working with service users with complex and enduring needs.
- Has the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
Desirable skills:
- Previous community mental health nursing experience.
- Experience supervising staff or students.
- Additional relevant training or a mentorship qualification.
