Pontypool Dialysis Unit is a vibrant 18-station unit providing haemodialysis treatment for 66 patients in partnership with the NHS Trust. With a safe staffing model and a protected 3:1 patient-to-nurse ratio, we ensure the highest standards of care.

Training is provided on a supernumerary basis by an allocated unit mentor, supported by our Practice Development Nurse team with regular on-site meetings.

Salary Band: £30,420 – £37,030
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and expand your theoretical knowledge and practical skills in dialysis patient care.
- Conduct competent and efficient patient assessments, coordinating with the unit’s link role resources and multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care.
- Act as a proactive mentor within the team, sharing knowledge and skills with patients, qualified nurses, ancillary staff, and student nurses.
- Foster professional relationships with patients and Trust staff to enhance business excellence and strengthen our partnership with B. Braun Avitum UK Ltd.
- Adhere to Avitum Policies and Procedures, the Quality Manual, and Environmental, Health, and Safety Guidelines.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified nurse with current NMC registration.
- Dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.
- Committed and eager to learn new skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Aptitude for acquiring clinical skills and techniques.
- Flexibility to meet the needs of patients and the unit.
Please note, salary will depend on previous dialysis experience or experience working in acute care.
Working Hours
Full-time role: 37.5 hours per week.
3 x 11.5-hour shifts per week, plus an additional top-up shift every 4 weeks.
Long Day Shifts: 07:00 – 18:30.
Monday to Saturday on a rota basis.
No Sunday working or night shifts.
Flexibility to work shifts based on business needs.
