Unit Overview

In this role, you will receive comprehensive training and support, empowering you to provide safe, high-quality, and holistic nursing care to patients undergoing dialysis. We welcome applications from registered nurses of all backgrounds, including newly qualified nurses.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Coordinate care for dialysis patients, ensuring holistic care and optimal outcomes, while liaising with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Mentorship: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior nurses, support staff, and students, helping to expand their skills in dialysis care.
  • Professional Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, their families, and colleagues, contributing to the overall care experience and improving business excellence.
  • Policies and Procedures: Adhere to Avitum’s policies, quality standards, and health and safety guidelines to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Skill Development: Continuously develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills specific to dialysis care.
  • Clinical Competency: Assess, plan, and implement care plans based on the unique needs of dialysis patients, collaborating with team members for optimal results.
  • Administrative Support: Ensure necessary documentation is completed, including post-procedure records and any required referrals.
  • Compliance: Work within regulatory standards, including the Human Tissue Authority and other health and safety protocols.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Passionate about providing exceptional patient care
  • Committed to learning new skills and advancing clinical knowledge
  • Strong communication skills, both with patients and within the team
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet patient and unit needs

Shift Information:

  • Full-time/part-time opportunities (specific hours per week available)
  • 3 x 11.5-hour shifts per week with an additional top-up shift
  • Long day shifts Monday to Saturday (rota system)
  • No Sunday or night shifts required

Employment Requirements:

This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check, reference checks, Occupational Health clearance, negative Hepatitis B antigen status, and eligibility to work in the UK.
