Exciting Opportunity: Project Manager (Careers) at the University of Reading
Join our dynamic Careers Centre team and drive impactful initiatives that empower students to excel beyond the classroom. This fixed-term role (12 months, maternity cover) offers a chance to lead innovative programmes fostering professional growth and skill-building at a leading UK university.
About the Role
In this position, you’ll spearhead the Thrive Mentoring Scheme, pairing students with industry mentors for invaluable insights, networking, and career guidance during their pivotal academic journey. You’ll also oversee the Reading Experience and Development (RED) Awards, our flagship recognition programme celebrating students’ extracurricular achievements and helping them leverage opportunities to enhance employability.
Your work will play a key role in delivering an enriched student journey, by designing and delivering initiatives that promote personal and professional advancement. This includes equipping students with tools to showcase their experiences effectively, paving the way for rewarding careers. Expect close collaboration with the broader Careers Team, as well as diverse internal departments and external partners, to ensure seamless programme delivery.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a proactive professional with:
- Proven ability to engage internal stakeholders and forge strong connections with external experts.
- Strong verbal and written communication, with a knack for building trust and handling sensitive discussions tactfully.
- Hands-on experience using data analytics to evaluate and refine projects for better outcomes.
- Solid knowledge of UK-wide developments in student career support, particularly for underrepresented communities, including those with disabilities.
- Top-tier planning and organisational prowess, including managing competing priorities, thriving in fast-paced settings, and hitting key milestones on time.
