About the Role

DTU Management invites applications for a Full Professorship (Chair) in Human Mobility, combined with leadership of a new section within the Transportation Science Division. This is a unique opportunity to lead pioneering research on human mobility and behavior while shaping the academic direction of a new research group in a department recognized internationally for excellence in transportation science.

The appointment includes substantial departmental support, including investment in research development and the addition of two new faculty positions to strengthen the section under the new Professor’s leadership.

About the Division

The Transportation Science Division is an internationally recognized unit with deep expertise across the transport and mobility sectors. Our research spans multiple disciplines including engineering, economics, psychology, computer science, data science, machine learning, mathematics, and statistics.

We focus on understanding human mobility and behavior as central to transport planning, policy design, and system operation. Our research underpins policy and practice in areas such as:

The green transition and sustainable transport

Equitable access to mobility for diverse user groups

Managing congestion and land-use challenges in urban areas

Transport safety, risk, and externalities

Key Responsibilities

The appointed Professor will:

Lead and build a research group dedicated to human mobility within DTU Management.

Define and develop the academic profile and long-term research agenda in this field.

Attract significant external research funding and deliver measurable societal and academic impact.

Collaborate with international research institutions, public authorities, industry partners, and DTU’s technical communities.

Provide academic leadership, mentor researchers, and contribute to strengthening DTU’s role in policy advice and societal engagement.

Candidate Profile

A strong research track record in human mobility, behavior, preferences, and choices.

Proven ability to secure major research grants and build international collaborations.
