Founded in 2006, Xi’an Jiao tong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) is a partnership between Xi’an Jiao tong University and the University of Liverpool, offering a unique international higher education experience. With over 25,000 students across Suzhou and Liverpool and more than 2,000 staff (about half of whom are international), XJTLU delivers over 100 undergraduate and postgraduate programs, integrating the best of Eastern and Western academic practices.
Entrepreneur College (Taicang)
Established in 2019, the Entrepreneur College (Taicang) is XJTLU’s innovative education model addressing the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Developed in partnership with the Taicang Municipal Government and leading industry partners, the campus officially opened in 2022 and is home to seven industry-themed schools. It emphasizes cutting-edge research, entrepreneurial education, and close industry collaboration.

School of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing (AIAC)
AIAC is one of the Entrepreneur College’s seven specialized schools, focusing on industry-led education and applied research in artificial intelligence, computing, and related technologies. It collaborates with industry through an Education, Research and Development Institute (ERDI), offering practical learning experiences and co-developed academic programs.
The School promotes an entrepreneurial and student-centered approach, preparing graduates for future careers in AI, machine learning, and advanced computing.
Position Overview
The School is seeking an outstanding academic to join as Professor. The successful candidate will:
Provide strategic and academic leadership in AI and computing research and education.
Collaborate with industry and academic partners to drive impactful research and innovation.
Shape the School’s research agenda and contribute to curriculum and program development.
Mentor early career researchers and PhD students.
Represent the School and University externally on national and international platforms.
This is a senior leadership position reporting directly to the Dean of the School.
Key Responsibilities
Lead high-impact research in AI, computer science, or data science.
Secure external funding through competitive grants and industry partnerships.
Deliver innovative, high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Supervise doctoral research students and mentor early-career faculty.
Build and expand academic-industry collaboration through ERDI.
Develop and implement the School’s research and enterprise strategies.
Represent the School within the University and externally as required.
Support interdisciplinary initiatives and identify new development opportunities.
Contribute to strategic planning, resource management, and academic governance.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
A strong international research profile with a proven record of impactful publications.
Evidence of securing significant research funding and managing large-scale projects.
Experience in research leadership and building partnerships with academia and industry.
A strong track record of teaching excellence at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Demonstrated ability to supervise PhD students and mentor academic staff.
Experience in academic and/or industry leadership, innovation, and strategic planning.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
High-level fluency in English.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience in international or joint-venture universities.
Previous collaboration with industry or business sectors.
Professional affiliations (e.g., BCS, IET, ACM, IEE, HEA).
Knowledge of the Chinese or broader Asia-Pacific higher education environment.
