The Role

We are seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join our Building Control team. This is a pivotal position, with responsibility for:

  • Assessing the acceptability of structural submissions under Building Regulations in line with British Standards, European Codes of Practice, and other relevant standards.
  • Providing expert technical advice, guidance, and instruction to internal staff and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborating closely with the Head of Building Control to manage service delivery and offer policy recommendations.
  • Delivering consultancy services, including structural design checks for other Local Authority Building Control bodies, and managing the financial aspects of these services.
  • Supporting business growth and increasing market share by preparing detailed and competitive fee quotes for Building Regulation applications.
  • Leading on out-of-hours emergency structural services as required.
