Job Summary
Are you looking to start a rewarding career in healthcare? We are recruiting two enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians via the Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) Level 3 Apprenticeship.
You will be working across a variety of settings, including community hospitals, mental health inpatient wards, community mental health teams, and specialist clinical services throughout Herefordshire and Worcestershire. The apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience while studying towards a nationally recognized qualification.
Important Eligibility Requirement:
To be shortlisted, you must have GCSEs at Grade 5 (C+) or above in English Language, Maths, and Science. Applicants without these qualifications or with a related degree are not eligible for government apprenticeship funding and will not be shortlisted. Please bring original certificates to the interview.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As an apprentice pharmacy technician, you will:
Work under the supervision of qualified pharmacy professionals
Gain experience in:
Dispensing and supply of medicines
Medicines stock control, procurement, and ordering
Medicines reconciliation and patient medication reviews
Ward-based services including stock top-ups and clinical support
Participate in study and practical assessments as part of your apprenticeship programme
Be expected to manage your time effectively between work duties and academic study
Demonstrate commitment to patient care, safety, and professional development
Maintain high standards of accuracy and follow procedures related to medicines handling
You will be supported throughout your training by our experienced team and will develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to register as a qualified pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications
GCSE Grade 5 (or equivalent) or above in:
English Language
Maths
Science
A BTEC Certificate in Science, Level 2 Pharmacy Services Qualification, or equivalent qualification with at least 12 months recent experience
Commitment to completing the Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship and associated Diploma within 2 years
Willingness to learn and take on responsibility in a healthcare setting
Understanding of the eligibility criteria and ability to provide original certificates
Essential Experience
Experience working in a hospital or community pharmacy
Experience in customer service or a patient care environment
Desirable (Not Required)
Prior experience supporting pharmacy operations or stock management
Familiarity with NHS policies and procedures
Additional Information
Work Patterns: No current weekend, bank holiday, or late evening shifts. Some Saturday mornings may be required in future.
