About the Role

The Faculty of Law is seeking to appoint a Postgraduate Student Administration Officer to support a range of key administrative functions for its postgraduate taught and research program. This is a newly restructured role, and as such, the job description may evolve during the early stages of the appointment.

The successful candidate will be a core member of the postgraduate administration team, working under the supervision of the Graduate Studies Administrator for the Centre for Criminology and collaborating closely with the BCL/M Jur Course Administrator and Graduate Studies Officer.

Key Responsibilities

Graduate Admissions – BCL/MJur Programmes

  • Act as the main point of contact for academic assessors and prospective applicants.

  • Provide guidance on the admissions process and direct queries to appropriate university services.

  • Collate and manage data related to scholarship and funding eligibility.

  • Liaise with the Student Funding Officer to process scholarship nominations.

Recognized Students Administration

  • Oversee administrative processes for Recognized Students, including visa management during their stay.

  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date records are maintained.

Support for PGR Admissions

  • Assist the Graduate Studies Officer with processing postgraduate research applications.

  • Maintain detailed records of applications, offers, and funding information.

  • Ensure all activities comply with university regulations and policies.

On-Course Support

  • During periods with reduced admissions activity, provide support for current postgraduate students.

  • Assist with the Preparation for Learning and Teaching at Oxford (PLTO) program, working alongside the Associate Dean for Undergraduates.

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, ideally gained within higher education or a similar setting.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • High level of discretion, especially when handling confidential or sensitive information.

  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in academic administration.
