Postdoctoral Researcher – Neural Circuits of Visually-Driven Behavior(UK Visa sponsorship available)

Uk
August 24, 2025

Job Description

About the Role

A Welcome-funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Professor Leon Lagnado to investigate the flow of information underlying visually-driven behaviours. The project involves using fluorescent neural activity reporters alongside advanced imaging techniques and behavioural assays to study how signals from the retina, transmitted through distinct visual pathways, influence behaviours in larval zebrafish such as the optomotor response, prey capture, and the optokinetic response. A particular focus is on understanding how visual circuits are modulated and how this modulation impacts behaviour.

You will join an active research group within a vibrant research environment, collaborating with other teams studying sensory processing through imaging and electrophysiology. The laboratory is based in Brighton, with London just one hour away.

Informal enquiries are welcomed and encouraged.

About You

You hold a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a closely related discipline, either experimental or computational.

You are capable of independently managing your research project and supporting colleagues within the laboratory.

You have strong communication skills and can effectively collaborate within a team environment.
