About the Role
Royal Holloway, University of London, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Health Studies. The role is linked to BAC4RumA – “Bacteriocin-rich extract from engineered lactic acid bacteria as an antibiotic alternative for therapeutic and prophylactic use in ruminants and aquaculture” – an IDRC-funded project developing alternatives to antibiotics for cattle and farmed tilapia in Nigeria.
The postholder will focus primarily on ruminant-related work, with key responsibilities including:
Field data collection in Nigeria
Data analysis
Preparing academic reports and publications based on project outcomes
The role offers an initial 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension until the project’s end in November 2026.
You will work closely with Dr Mahmoud Eltholth (Department of Health Studies) and an international team of collaborators across the UK, Spain, and Nigeria.
Candidate Requirements
A strong research background in health, veterinary, biological, or related sciences
Experience in fieldwork, data collection, and analysis
Excellent academic writing and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-country, multidisciplinary project
