Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Post-Doctoral Research Scientist to join a Medical Research Council–funded project exploring immunological pathways and physiological processes that could lead to new treatments for brain tumours in individuals with NF2 schwannomatosis, a rare disease.
The successful candidate will be based in the lab of Prof. Kevin Couper, working closely with the labs of Prof. David Brough and Prof. Omar Pathmanaban within FBMH. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of immunology, neuroscience, and neuro-oncology.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct high-quality research into immunological and physiological mechanisms relevant to NF2 brain tumours.
Perform advanced microscopy and tissue/cell staining techniques.
Apply flow cytometry methods to analyse immune responses.
Work extensively with murine models, ideally in neuroinflammation or neuro-oncology.
(Desirable) Carry out intracranial surgery in mice, with training provided if needed.
Collaborate with colleagues across multiple labs and disciplines.
Contribute to publications, presentations, and wider dissemination of findings.

PhD (or near completion) in immunology with additional experience in neuroscience or neuro-oncology preferred.
Strong technical expertise in microscopy, staining methods, and flow cytometry.
Extensive experience working with murine models.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
Desirable:
Experience performing intracranial surgery in mice.
