People Services Assistant Business Partner

About the Role

This is a pivotal role within the People Services team at NCIC, supporting a compassionate, values-driven approach to managing employee relations and people issues across the Trust. You’ll work closely with managers and HR colleagues to promote a culture of support, fairness, and continuous improvement in staff wellbeing and organizational behavior.

You will provide expert HR advice, coaching, and case management support to managers on a range of complex people issues including performance, conduct, interpersonal conflicts, sickness absence, and policy compliance. Your work will contribute directly to embedding a restorative, person-centered culture across the Trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide complex and sensitive advice on people management cases, including performance, conduct, absence, bullying and harassment.

  • Use a coaching approach to support and develop line managers in handling HR matters effectively.

  • Interpret and apply HR policies and procedures to real-world scenarios.

  • Coordinate and attend case management meetings, including hearings and investigations.

  • Work collaboratively with the People Services Business Partner to support trust-wide culture and process improvements.

  • Contribute to sickness absence reduction strategies and other HR-led projects.

  • Support consistent decision-making and compliance with employment law and best practice.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in a HR advisory or business partnering role within a complex organization (NHS or public sector experience desirable).

  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR policies, and employee relations case management.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with managers, staff, and trade union representatives.

  • Confident in providing expert guidance on sensitive and complex issues.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
