Join the Patient Catering and Hostess Housekeeping Team at Airedale General Hospital as a Patient Experience and Nutritional Supervisor — a key role that helps ensure every mealtime is a moment of care, comfort, and compassion for our patients.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, people-focused supervisor with a strong background in food service, hospitality, or healthcare catering. You will lead a dedicated team to deliver a high-quality nutritional experience and play a vital role in improving patient satisfaction and wellbeing.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Supervise and support catering, hostess, and housekeeping staff across patient areas.

Oversee staff training and induction, ensuring all new team members are fully supported.

Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality food service to patients, tailored to individual dietary and nutritional needs.

Monitor service standards, hygiene practices, and compliance with food safety regulations.

Handle patient feedback and complaints with professionalism and empathy.

Manage documentation, data tracking, and support audit and reporting processes.

Work closely with clinical and facilities teams to ensure joined-up care around mealtimes.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential:

GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths

Level 2 Food Safety qualification

Desirable:

IOSH Managing Safely Level 3

Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate

Customer service qualification

Train-the-Trainer qualification

Skills and Competencies

Essential:

Strong IT skills (Excel and Word)

Excellent attention to detail

Confident communicator and team leader

Knowledge

Essential:

Good knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety practices

Awareness of allergens and allergen management

Understanding of catering and hospitality best practice

Respect for confidentiality

Desirable:

Knowledge of HACCP procedures

Understanding of NHS PLACE audits and Information Governance

Familiarity with NHS audit frameworks

Experience

Essential:

Experience in a catering or food service environment

Proven experience dealing with customers and handling complaints

Experience working with allergens in a food service setting

Experience working with the public or service users

Desirable:

Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare environment
