About the role
Providence Medical Group–Walla Walla is seeking a full-time Internal Medicine–trained Nocturnist to join a highly collaborative hospitalist team serving a close-knit community. This role is ideal for physicians who enjoy hands-on inpatient and ICU care and value teamwork, consistency, and lifestyle balance.
You’ll practice at St. Mary Medical Center, where physicians work closely with experienced nurses, respiratory therapists, and support staff. The environment is collegial, respectful, and deeply rooted in patient-centered care.
Your Role & Daily Impact
As a Nocturnist, you will provide comprehensive overnight inpatient care with a strong ICU component. The ICU is open, and physicians are expected to independently manage critically ill patients, including those requiring ventilator support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overnight inpatient mtedical care
- Manage ICU patients, including ventilaed cases
- Collaborate with tele–Critical Care support services
- Work closely with nursing and ancillary teams
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate care in a community hospital setting
- There is no call responsibility, allowing you to fully focus on your scheduled shifts and personal time off.
Schedule & Work-Life Balance
- 168 shifts per year
- 14 nights on / 14 nights off (with some flexibility)
- Shift-based model with predictable hours

Qualifications We’re Looking For
Required
- MD or DO, Internal Medicine–trained
- Recent ICU and ventilator management experience (within the past 2 years)
- Comfort managing critically ill patients in an open ICU
- Eligibility for medical licensure in Washington State
Preferred
- Experience in a community hospital
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- New graduates with solid ICU exposure during residency are encouraged to apply.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual compensation range: $295,021 – $377,352
(May include productivity incentives, quality bonuses, or extra shift pay)
