Job Summary

Are you a skilled, electrically-biased engineer ready to make a meaningful impact in healthcare? Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a proactive and flexible Multi-Skilled Electrical Engineer to join our Facilities Maintenance team. Your work will directly support the safe and efficient operation of hospital environments—helping us maintain the highest standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out both planned and reactive maintenance of electrical systems and installations.

Diagnose, repair, and resolve electrical faults promptly and effectively.

Support capital projects by witnessing, inspecting, and accepting new electrical installations.

Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, including Electrical Safety, Legionella, and Asbestos regulations.

Work safely and respectfully in clinical areas, including sensitive environments such as children’s wards.

Participate in the on-call rota to support operational continuity outside standard hours.

Required Skills and Experience

Essential:

Proven multi-skilled engineering experience with a strong focus on electrical systems.

Hands-on experience with:

Air Handling Units (AHUs)

Motors

Building Management Systems (BMS)

Electrical testing

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a wider facilities team.

Capable of reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.

Willing to take part in on-call duties and work flexibly to meet service needs.

Desirable:

Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.

Familiarity with Healthcare Technical Memorandums (HTMs).

Experience with BMS controls.

Ability to use PDA or mobile maintenance devices.

Qualifications

Essential:

Level 3 Qualification in Electrical Installation or equivalent.

BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Testing and Design.

IT literacy, including basic computer and mobile device use.

Level 2 in English and Maths (or equivalent literacy and numeracy skills).

Desirable:

Knowledge of NHS electrical safety standards and HTMs.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
