The Role

We are seeking a creative and analytically minded Marketing Officer (Digital) to support the University of Sussex’s undergraduate and postgraduate student recruitment activity. Working within the central Marketing Team in the Communications, Engagement and Advancement (CEA) division, you will help design, deliver and assess digital marketing campaigns that reach prospective students in the UK and internationally.

This role combines creativity with evidence-based decision-making. You will contribute to campaigns across paid, owned and shared digital channels, ensuring content is engaging, accessible, on-brand and cost-effective. You will also support campaign evaluation, using performance data to help shape future activity and improve outcomes.

You will collaborate closely with Marketing Managers, CRM and analytics specialists, web and social media teams, academic Schools, and recruitment colleagues, contributing to a positive and collaborative working culture.

What You’ll Be Doing

As part of this role, you will:

  • Support the planning and delivery of digital recruitment campaigns across multiple online channels
  • Create, edit and adapt digital content for different platforms and audiences
  • Coordinate campaign activity with internal teams and external agencies
  • Monitor and analyse campaign performance, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure all digital outputs align with brand, accessibility and data protection standards
  • Contribute ideas and insights to help continuously improve digital marketing practice
  • This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys balancing creativity, organisation and data-driven thinking.

About You

You are an organised and enthusiastic digital marketer with experience supporting or delivering online campaigns. You are comfortable writing clear, engaging copy and adapting content to suit different audiences and platforms.

You will bring:

  • Experience working with digital marketing channels and campaign delivery
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence using data, spreadsheets or analytics tools to assess performance
  • Basic design or image-editing skills to create or adapt digital assets
  • An understanding of branding, visual identity and accessibility principles

Experience within higher education or a similarly complex organisation is desirable, but not essential. What matters most is your willingness to learn, collaborate and deliver high-quality digital work.
